“Faith without works is dead.”
“Those who consider themselves
religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves,
and their religion is worthless.”
“All kinds of animals, birds,
reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but
no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly
poison.”
The New Testament book of James is
full of powerful verses like these.
James writes that the struggle for all Christians is not to be double-minded. We become double-minded when we try to
live both to please the world and to please Christ. This sermon series will examine how James' teachings can keep us focused solely on Christ.
